I agree. Keep writing. Know that it is helping the rest of us in this adjustment. I had been kind of down lately and with this creeping feeling that it is actually going to take me quite a while longer than I originally thought to feel comfortable in this retirement. I did not want to admit this I guess because it makes me feel a bit like I am failing and I am not used to that. It has been 1 and 1/2 year for me. Now I am thinking I was unrealistic to expect to have it all together and be well adjusted to this big change in one year which was what I sort of expected. If you think about it it's pretty silly to think we can live one way for 30 years in the workplace and then just turn around and live completely differently in as short a time as a year. I remember a friend of mine who had retired before me that I ran in to telling me it took her at least 2 years to start to feel comfortable about retirement. At the time I thought not me and that I could do what she did in a year. I think the problem is that when your working you look at a year in terms of what you can accomplish but in retirement it's more about what you can adjust to rather than accomplish as you face so many changes. You also start to look at time, work and accomplishments in a totally different light Now I am thinking 2-3 years, being more realistic and working on being patient and forgiving with myself. This transition does take lots of time and we need to give ourselves that time. I wonder if most other retired people are finding this to be true?
